100+ Years of Transformers? Meet Dongan
Transformers don't really have a glamorous reputation.
They don't spin, move products down a conveyor, flash warning lights, or make anything go beep.
But when a machine needs the right voltage to operate, transformers have a job to do.
That's one of the reasons we're excited to welcome Dongan to the Wolf Pack.
Dongan has been making transformers for more than 100 years, and its product lineup includes everything from industrial control transformers to buck-boost transformers, reactors, inductors, and specialty transformer solutions.
In other words, Dongan knows a thing or two about getting power where it needs to go.
So, What Exactly Does a Transformer Do?

We're going to keep this simple.
Industrial equipment doesn't always use the same voltage that's coming into the facility. A machine may need a different voltage for its control circuit, motor, electronics, or other components.
That's when you need a transformer.
A transformer changes electrical voltage from one level to another so equipment can get the power it was designed to use.
It sounds simple, and sometimes it is. But choosing the right transformer for an application isn't always as simple as grabbing the first one off the shelf.
A Little History Never Hurt Anyone
Dongan isn't the new kid on the block.
The company was founded in 1909, originally as the Dongan Electric Instrument Company. Since then, electrical technology has changed quite a bit. Cars became computers, factories became automated, and machines became smarter.
Dongan kept up.
Today, they manufacture transformers and other power products for industrial, commercial, renewable energy, medical, and specialty applications.
So, while we're introducing Dongan as a new vendor to MWA, Dongan itself has been around for a while.
A very long while
What Does Dongan Make?
Why Dongan?
At MWA, we're always looking for manufacturers that give our customers more options, not just more products.
Dongan brings some pretty serious experience to the table, making standard products for common applications and offering custom engineering for the not-so-common ones.
Its products are designed for industrial and commercial equipment, and its broad product lineup goes beyond traditional control transformers.
That's a combination we like.
