We love to hear success stories! It’s very rewarding to know that our vendors offer product solutions across every industry. We especially appreciate being able to share their success stories—it’s a fantastic learning experience for our team and helps build closer relationships with our vendors.

When asked about the food and beverage industry, Invertek didn’t disappoint. They provided us with all the details about where and how they can help.

Here are some Invertek food and beverage solutions, copied and summarized from their case studies:

Who: A tequila producer in Mexico

Problem: The tequila producer sought to reduce energy consumption associated with the agave crusher motor without compromising the quality or efficiency of their production process.

Solution: The Optidrive P2, with its advanced motor control capabilities, offered a precise and efficient solution for the tequila producer's needs.

Its sensorless vector control and energy optimization algorithms ensure the agave crusher motor operates at the optimal speed and torque, minimizing energy waste without compromising performance.

Following the installation and commissioning of the Optidrive P2, the tequila producer experienced a remarkable 30% reduction in energy consumption associated with the agave crusher motor. This significant energy saving translates to reduced operational costs and a smaller carbon footprint, reinforcing the company's commitment to sustainable practices.

Who: Pratters branded coffee roasters

Problem: The success of any coffee roast hinges on meticulous control of temperature and airflow. Accurate control of gear motors, enabling consistent and high-quality coffee roasting across cafes, roasteries, and industrial setting.

Solution: Optidrive E3 VFDs step in to precisely control the speed of the gear motors powering the rotating bean drum, motor blower, and cooling agitator.

They ensure each batch achieves the desired roast profile with consistency. This creates exceptional drink quality, roast after roast, ensuring Pratter's reputation for excellence.

"The synergy between Invertek's innovative VFD technology and Sumitomo's high-performance gear motors creates an unbeatable solution for Pratter," explains Carwyn Jones, Asia Pacific Technical Sales Manager for Invertek. "Together, they provide the precise control and unwavering reliability needed for exceptional coffee experiences."

Who: PTPN XI PG, a sugar producer in Indonesia

Problem: A sugar producer's high-powered centrifugal machine was underperforming and had become unreliable. This resulted in downtime and maintenance costs, as well as affecting the quantity and quality of the sugar product. One of its centrifugal machines was underperforming and had become unreliable. This resulted in downtime and maintenance costs, as well as affecting the quantity and quality of the sugar product.

Solution: The Optidrive P2 is capable of handling demanding motor applications.

“The problems with the existing drive were impacting on production at the sugar mill. We considered the power requirements of the motor and the intense production schedules and quickly identified the Optidrive P2 VFD as a good replacement,” said Deddy Christian, Area Sales Manager at SHI Cyclo Drive Asia Pacific.

“The drive had to be robust and powerful enough for the application while ensuring its size was compact to fit into the existing cabinet without any problems.”

“The customer was impressed at how easy the drive was to install and set-up, as well as its size which was smaller than the previous competitor drive, creating more space in the control cabinet.”

Who: A Greek tortilla producer

Problem: A new conveyor line was being commissioned to check the quality and to pack and palletize tortillas. Accurate control of the line and a cartesian system for removing poor quality tortillas was required.

Solution: Optidrive E3s were integrated into the line to control the conveyor system, allowing it to stop when required for the removal of tortilla's, as well as for the packaging of the product. An Optidrive P2 was used on a robot at the end of line used for palletizing the product for distribution.

“The quality and control were an objective from the outset. We’re pleased that we’ve doubled the speed of production while at the same time improving the quality of the product,” said Teo.

The Optidrive E3, Frame Size 1 with an IP20 enclosure, with 3PH input and output, 380V- 480V was chosen for the line and piston control.

An Optidrive P2, Frame Size 2 with IP20 enclosure, with 3PH input and output, 380V-480V was selected for the movement of the picking and packaging robot.

The Optidrive E3 has three application modes out of the box: industrial, pump and fan modes. This makes it easier to set up and commission for a range of applications.

Who: US pizza oven manufacturer

Problem: A pizza oven manufacturer was experiencing tripping of its ovens in countries outside the USA by VFDs installed in the ovens which were tripping Ground Fault Detection systems.

Solution: Invertek selected it’s Optidrive E3 IP20 with its low earth leakage and small physical frame size.

“The ovens were being exported to countries as far as Australia,” said Wayne Morris, Vice-President of Invertek Drives USA.

“They turned to us as our Optidrive E3 IP20 has a low earth leakage current level, which ensures the ovens do not cause nuisance tripping. Also, the small physical size allows convenient fitting. After intense testing in a variety of environments mirroring those where the ovens would be used, the Optidrive E3 surpassed all expectations.”
