Question:

I have a guy that needs to hang two light and three light stack Patlite units from the ceiling. The lights they currently use are modular and the modules are shaking loose and falling to the ground. What would be the best unit for mounting safely upside down?

Answer:

Actually, we don’t have a “best” industrial light tower for hanging upside down, as this mounting option is not warrantied by Patlite anyway.

The only other assembly style we have (besides the “twist-n-click” LU5 or LU7 series) has a screw that passes through the center of the tower to hold the cap, light modules and base together. This would be any series except Patlite LU5 or LU7.

Even the screwed-down style of industrial stack light might not be foolproof, but it’s better than twist-n-click.

Also, these light towers have more light directed so they are brighter when looking “up” at them. Since they are now mounted upside down, you would be looking “down” at them (a little less light intensity). This matters less the farther away you are from the stack light.

FYI, LU5 and LU7 are not designed with this directed light intensity.
