Pepperl+Fuchs BB10 Plug-In Through-Beam Sensors for Doors and Turnstiles

It's this easy to install: Drill hole, snap in sensor... done!!

Sensors as small as a button but as effective as larger sensors!

There is no easier way to install a photoelectric sensor: Drill hole (13 mm) – snap in sensor – done.

With a remarkably large maximum sensing range of 8 m the Pepperl+Fuchs BB10 miniature photoelectric sensors can match large photoelectric sensors in every respect. This applies in particular to the conditions in which the sensors operate.

An extended working range for temperatures between-40 °C and 60 °C makes the Pepperl+Fuchs BB10 suitable for extremely cold regions and locations where the temperature fluctuates drastically. The housing is completely encapsulated according to IP67 and the special design prevents fractures at the cable exit.

The Pepperl+Fuchs BB10 thru-beam sensor is suitable for a multi-beam sensor installation. A lens with a narrow transmitter opening angle of 3° was developed specially. In addition, two frequencies F1 and F2 to avoid cross-talk. A clearly visible display enables simpler alignment by assessing signal stability.

Applications:
Doors, Turnstiles, Elevators & Escalators

New Pepperl & Fuchs HMI Panel Mount PCs and Monitors

New ATEX and IEC Ex Zone 2 Panel PCs and Monitors from Pepperl+Fuchs Provide 24/7 Operation in Harsh Process Applications

VisuNet IND 8200 Series is a true industrialized all-in-one visualization solution that mounts directly to equipment to provide highly reliable operator control and batch management in a variety OEM industries and applications.

Pepperl+Fuchs has introduced Type 4/4X (IP66) VisuNet IND 8200 Series HMI Panel Mount PCs and Monitors.

These Windows-based, all-in-one panel PC and remote monitors mount directly to OEM process machinery or manufacturing equipment and interface with the control system. Each unit is manufactured using all industrial-grade components. They are shock and vibration resistant, globally certified for displays for ATEX and IEC Ex Zone 2 and Class I, Division 2 operation in 15” and 19”. Each monitor is built for 24/7 operation in extended temperature environments.

The tough industrial design allows for indoor-outdoor use in even the harshest and many times hazardous applications typical of the oil and gas, food and beverage, and automotive industries. The monitor’s chamfered bezels are also well suited for pharmaceutical MES and clean room functions.

Additionally, the Ethernet remote monitor technology requires no software installations, provides standard Ethernet networking connections to the server to eliminate the need for expensive converters, and reduces IT infrastructure needs by providing access to multiple servers from a single workstation. These visualization solutions support RDP applications including Microsoft® terminal services, Citrix® ICA, or VNC RFB.

Zener Diode Barriers vs. Isolated Barriers for Intrinsic Safety

Let's start with their basic definitions:

Zener diode barriers are an easy method for implementing intrinsic safety. They need to be connected to a dedicated intrinsic safety earth ground, their main drawback because it may cause electrical noise on a control signal. If you do not have a proper ground system in place this would probably not be your best solution. The cost to install and maintain such a system will most likely outweigh the savings of this solution.

Isolated barriers, on the other hand, provide galvanic isolation for anything connected to them.

What is galvanic isolation? I had no idea and headed over to Wikipedia. Galvanic isolation is 'a principle of isolating functional sections of electrical systems to prevent current flow. Galvanic isolation is used where two or more electrical circuits must communicate but their grounds may be at different potentials'. If that didn't clear it up then I will need to direct you to our technical department (which is outstanding, by the way!).

Back to isolated barriers... the possible downside is that they usually require a separate power supply. They provide protection for specific applications such as transmitters, solenoids and thermocouples.

Intrinsic safety is the least expensive, easiest and safest method of hazardous area protection available. Explosion simply cannot occur.

Marshall Wolf Automation is your authorized Pepperl+Fuchs distributor and we carry a full line of intrinsically safe products.

What Can I Use In Place Of A Motorola Bar Code Scanner?

Question:

On of my customers uses the Motorola DS457 Bar Code Scanner.  They were experiencing issues with their original one and have found this Motorola equivalent “bolt on” replacement…

Answer:

I have seen those before. I have always been a little confused by these specifications as they list oddball stuff such as the image file formats supported Jig, Jpeg, Tiff.

Based on what they have listed for technical specifications, I would take a look at the Pepperl+Fuchs VB14N-600-R. It will have RS232 communication like the Motorola and uses a class 2 laser. This is primarily for hard to read 1 D barcodes, but our other models do not have the range of this one.

Nardini Lathe Question

Question:

Hello, I have a Nardini lathe that uses a 'zero speed' control relay that works in conjunction with an NPN sensor. The machine was made in Brazil and it is difficult to find replacement parts.

Would you have a replacement part of some type I can use? The information I have on the device is as follows.

Dual contact SPDT (4A/250) 50-500 RPM. it is a "Sense model ND-333-30" 220VAC

Our Suggestion:

We offer speed sensors which can be used for certain speed ranges or we also offer a zero speed monitor that can be used with 3 and 4 wire sensors or NAMUR sensors that can give a zero and opposite direction output.

Here is the link.
