Carlo Gavazzi offers new 3-phase switching solid state relays

Carlo Gavazzi is proud to announce their new RGC2 and RGC3 series of 3-phase switching solid state relays and contactors. They are an addition to the existing RGC1 single phase series of solid state relays and contactors, providing an innovative solution for 2 and 3-pole switching of 3-phase loads.

The product is intended to replace electromechanical contactors when switching speeds are quite frequent. Their compact size, easy installation and flexible configuration make these devices the ideal solution, especially when retrofitting. The RGC Series of solid state relays and contactors are designed for switching resistive as well as inductive loads and are UL Listed as Motor Controllers. Reliable operation is ensured by means of the integrated overvoltage protection, high I2t ratings and immunity conformance to industrial standards. Additionally, an innovative thermal design improves the product lifetime.

RGC2 and RGC3 Series devices are available in two frame sizes: 54mm or 70mm wide. RGC2, the 2-pole switching device, offers three current ratings of 25, 40 and 75AAC per pole at 40°C. While RGC3, the 3-pole switching device, offers five current ratings ranging 20 to 65Amps per pole. Optional monitoring feature offers possibility of detecting status of mains and load, as well as internal RGC failures: open or short circuit and overheating. Alarming is implemented with LED indication, electromechanical relay output and auxiliary transistor output.

The RGC2 and RGC3 Series are available from Marshall Wolf Automation, your authorized industrial automation distributor.  Call today at 800-325-9653

Nardini Lathe Question

Question:

Hello, I have a Nardini lathe that uses a 'zero speed' control relay that works in conjunction with an NPN sensor. The machine was made in Brazil and it is difficult to find replacement parts.

Would you have a replacement part of some type I can use? The information I have on the device is as follows.

Dual contact SPDT (4A/250) 50-500 RPM. it is a "Sense model ND-333-30" 220VAC

Our Suggestion:

We offer speed sensors which can be used for certain speed ranges or we also offer a zero speed monitor that can be used with 3 and 4 wire sensors or NAMUR sensors that can give a zero and opposite direction output.

Let Me Tell You How I conquered custom application

Resolving a customers issue/concern. This is he result of working with a customer on an application that they were looking to automate. We went in and reviewed the application with the customer to see what we could offer, we asked a lot of questions and got to see the equipment up close and personal (sorry a movie pun). By working with the customer and communicating all the issues / concerns they had we were able to come back with a solution that is cost effective and will work well for them going forward.

Project 2 – Glue Pot Auto Fill System:

Looking again for us to design a solution for him that would consist of a pump, motor that would allow him to keep his 55 gallon drum at a consistent level so the operator would not need to check the levels in the drum. It is a typical glue pot system according to the customer @ “XYZ”. They would like a indicator, and again to keep the depth of the glue consistent. Let me know if this is a project that Marshall Wolf would be interested in. I can set up a time to meet with the customer if you feel either or both of these projects are of interest.

Solution Presented to Customer:

Operational Specs:

Ultrasonic Sensor (below) will monitor the tank level. When tank level; hits the low limit the sensor will actuate the SPDT relay. Relay will control actuation of the valve. The valve will allow glue to flow into the tank; end user (Nosco) is responsible for the installation of the valve. Valve will be wired to “NO” contact on the relay. Relays contact rating is = 10A (1540VA resistive / 990VA inductive)

Secondary option:

Valve can be wired to a male or female M12 cable; this would make the system a plug and play solution.

BOM to include the following parts: Left out as it is a custom application, parts incluede an Ultrasonic Sensor, Power Supply, Relay and Socket and an Enclosure

Please let us know if you are having similiar projects, we would like the opportunity to come in and review possible solutions with you.
