As soon as a person enters a hazardous area the hazardous movement is stopped by interrupting the light curtain. To restart the machine the operator must first actuate the command device S2, located inside the hazardous are; then when he has left the are the operator actuates the command device S1.

Rotoscan Safety Laser Scanner

Safety Laser Scanners are a cost-effective and flexible protective devices alternative for danger zone guarding of large areas in the vicinity of these machines. The Type 3 Leuze ROTOSCAN RS4 Series is the clear choice for personnel protection and guarding danger zones!

Switching between any kind of monitoring areas is possible with up to 6.25 radius, process conditional according to the application. All configuration data, such as the definition of the zones, the resolution or the response times, is defined with the RS4soft configuration and diagnostics software.

Compactness, protective/warning field combination and field changeover are the essential features of Safety Laser Scanners for guarding corridor supply vehicles. Safety switches have the task of preventing the operation of a machine in the case of a potential hazard!

Safety switches have the task of preventing the operation of a machine in the case of a potential hazard. This task is defined in EN 1088 (Safety of machinery. Interlocking devices associated with guards. Principles for design and selection). For this purpose the safety circuit must be opened by the safety switch. Safety switches are therefore key elements of an interlocking device. In general, a differentiation is made between safety switches with safety function (design type 1 safety switches) and safety switches with separate actuator (design type 2 safety switches).

For safety switches positively driven contacts are used in the switching elements. These are special switching elements that are designed to ensure the switching contacts are always reliably separated. Even if contacts welded together, the connection is opened by the actuating force. It is a common feature of all switching elements that at least one switching element is designed as a positively driven contact. Often two positively driven contacts are employed to increase safety using the principle of duplicated design (redundancy). This dual-channel design ensures that on the failure of one channel or on a fault in the control circuit (i.e. in the machine wiring), the interlocking can still be provided with the aid of the second channel.

Design Type 1 with integrated actuator
Features an integrated actuator to protect personnel and equipment by monitoring the position of movable components. Actuator movement opens positively driven safety contacts. Reinforced thermoplastic (NM Design Type 1) and die cast aluminum (NZ Design Type 1) versions available.

Emergency Stop - Rope Pull Switch from Euchner

The RPS-M from Euchner expands the range of safety rope pull switches by a version with metal housing.  It is used as an emergency stop device especially in long  machine installations that cannot be protected with safety covers. The emergency stop function can be triggered at any point of the pre-tensioned rope pull system by pulling the rope/tearing of the rope or directly at the rope pull switch.

 

Reset is performed by pulling on the emergency stop device. The stable and robust metal housing and the high degree of protection IP 67 allow the RPS-M to be used in both indoor and outdoor areas, even under difficult climatic conditions. Its handling couldn't be simpler. Thanks to the fast-action clamping head, mounting is rapid and simple. The connection space and the possibility of three cable entries ensure flexible handling and installation.  The RPS-M features easily readable switching-state displays permitting correct setting and checking of the rope tension. Optionally, the RPS-M is available with an electronic pre-failure monitoring. This permits early detection of a change in the rope tension and prevents unintentional triggering of the emergency stop device.
