Conjunction Junction What's Your Function?

At first glance I read "junction box" as "juke box" but alas it does not play music nor does Fonzi hit it to get it started. However, it's still pretty darn cool and you don't need to insert any money to get it to work. Plus you can hum "Conjunction Junction" to yourself  while you read this!  For those of you that weren't a child of the 80s, check out the video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPoBE-E8VOc to see what I'm referring to.

So, per my research, I discovered that junction boxes are devices that contain the wiring junctions or intersections that allow the wiring in the home or public building to interface with the main power supply provided by a local utility.

In addition to it's practicality, a junction box  looks more appealing than a bunch of exposed electrical wires. Also, if you have a toddler anything like mine, who puts everything in his mouth, this ensures that they won't be grabbing for the wires any chance they get. Outta sight outta mind is the way to go!

Usually constructed with the use of metal or hard plastic, the general appearance of a junction box is either a square or rectangular design. A door on the front of the box allows access to the interior. The door may be set in the front of the junction box, or the entire facing may swing upward or downward to allow access to the junctions within the device. In many homes, the junction box proper is placed into a wall, with only the front panel open to view.  This way you can hang that family photo in your matching sweaters (oh you know you all have one), deer head or singing bass fish, circa 2002, over the box to hide it from view.

Marshall Wolf Automation  carries the Saginaw Enviroline® Junction Enclosures, series SCE-ELJ . These are designed to house electrical controls, instruments and components in areas, which may be regularly hosed down or are in very wet or oily conditions. In addition they also provide protection from dust, dirt, oil, and water. Enclosures (boxes) with viewing windows are designed to house electrical controls, instruments and components that require unrestricted viewing of the gages or controls, in areas which may be regularly hosed down or are in very wet or oily conditions.

Marshall Wolf Automation also carries the Stainless Steel Saginaw Enviroline®, Junction Enclosures, series, SCE-ELJSS.  These have all the same features as the SCE-ELJ series, the main difference being the  #4 brushed finish on all exterior surfaces. The SCE-ELJ series is carbon steel while this series is stainless steel, optional panels are powder coated white.

Barcode Reading in Hazardous Areas from Pepperl & Fuchs

Pepperl & Fuchs has reliable wired and wireless barcode reading in hazardous areas.

Marshall Wolf Automation, your full-line industrial automation distributor, is an authorized distributor for products from Pepperl & Fuchs.

PowerScan is a barcode reader system for Zone 1 and Division 1 hazardous areas.  The wireless PowerScan M system for Zone 1 locations consists of a transmitter and base station, with power provided by a charger located in the safe area.

The wired PowerScan D system for Div. 1/Zone 1 locations consists of a barcode reader connected via a junction box to the Host PC, which can be located up to 150 meters away in the safe area.

With PowerScan, all common 1D-barcode families can be captured and patented technology effectively reads even damaged and difficult to read barcodes.  The rugged housing ensures full functionality, even after being dropped from a height of two meters.  PowerScan features a targeting guide that helps the user achieve successful readings when codes are located in close proximity to one another.  Three gren LEDs located on the top and back of the barcode reader are visible from any angle to visually confirm that the code has been successfully read.  Successful readings are also confirmed with an audible tone, and the result can be read in the display.

What Is A Junction Enclosure?

I was recently updating some of our Saginaw industrial enclosures and noticed a few series of junction enclosures on the list.

I had never heard of a junction enclosures so I headed back to my trusted resource, Wikipedia:

'An electrical junction box is a container for electrical connections, usually intended to conceal them from sight and meter tampering. A small metal or plastic junction box may form part of an electrical conduit wiring system in a building, or may be buried in the plaster of a wall, concealed behind an access panel or cast into concrete with only the lid showing.'

Basically I think it's an enclosure used to hide everything inside, however, we do offer them with windows as well. I'm guessing so you can see LED okay indicators?

Anyway, we now have junction enclosures, a.k.a. junction boxes, on our website.

As always, Marshall Wolf Automation is your source for a huge offering of enclosures including stainless steel, plastic and polycarbonate enclosures.

We carry all the top brands! Search all of our enclosures now.
