The new S8 series of compact sensors from
Idec/DataSensor offers excellent detection performances, usually associated with sensors that have larger dimensions and a higher price. The S8 series is able to solve the most critical sensor applications. A solution for packaging lines, food and beverage industries, automotive, test and assembling machines and electronic plants. The first models introduced offer coaxial polarized Laser retro-reflective, mechanical Laser background suppression, coaxial polarized LED retro-reflective for transparent object detection and contrast sensors with RGB emission, coaxial optic and very high resolution in a compact housing.
The Laser versions present extremely focused spot inferior to 1 mm and switching frequencies that are amongst the highest on the market reaching 10 kHz. The retro-reflective models supply great reliability and plant productivity thanks to an additional ALARM output for dirty lenses. The contrast sensor is the most compact sensor available today with RGB emission and coaxial optics. Connector M8 or M12 ‘pig-tail’ versions are available.

Yes, that's right. Wine with your
variable frequency drives. Yummm.
Wineries all across the country are using variable frequency drives (VFD's) on their pumps and fans that they use to process the wine. The implementation of
VFD's allow the systems to work only at the rate that they are required to complete the job. Thus saving unused energy! As an example, the net effect of installing a VFD to a pump that reduces the water flow rate by 20-30 % will save 50-80% in system energy consumption a year. Less energy = more wine... sounds good to me!

So being the self professed gadget junky that I am, I confess that I am addicted to my iPhone. I use it for everything...but work? I don't know how I feel about that one.
However, I was reading an article about how an 'Apple Insider' reports that they are working on a new technology for the iphone. It would make touch screen devices easy to use and read in unstable industrial applications, like at Food Equipment Supplies companies, Refrigeration Equipment manufacturers and other Industrial Supply companies.
