What exactly is it that circuit breakers do?
A circuit breaker is used to monitor and control the amount of amps being sent through the electrical wiring.
If a power surge occurs in the electrical wiring, the breaker will trip. This is when it will switch from an 'on' to an 'off' position and will shut down the electrical power leading from that breaker.
