New Products: Outdoor Duty Speed Sensor/Pickup from Dart Controls!

Wednesday, April 25, 2012 by Beckie Bordenaro

Our popular Dart Controls PU-E series has always been an economical and reliable way to monitor motor speed. The PU-E series is rated for indoor industrial applications, however, the new Dart Controls PU-R is rated for outdoor applications!

The Dart Controls PU-R is recommended for applications where occasional water washdown is expected and/or where temperature, humidity, rain and dust are present.

The Dart Controls PU series pick-up operates at a 5 to 24 volt level producing a sharp square wave output which may be fed into Dart's field programmable tachometer, closed-loop control, counter or any other digital device.

Completely self-contained, the Dart Controls PU series eliminates the alignment hassle found with other devices. This is an excellent 'motor not running' feedback device to PLC/SCADA systems.

Marshall Wolf Automation is your authorized industrial automation distributor for the complete line of Dart Control speed controls, brushless DC motor controls, speed sensors and more!

Altech Screw Clamp Terminal Blocks

Friday, April 20, 2012 by Beckie Bordenaro

Altech terminal blocks feature screw clamps for maximum wiring efficiency and reliability.

The terminal blocks are supplied with open clamps, ready to accept wires. No special wire preparation or wire lugs are required.

Simply strip the wire, insert and tighten the screw to the torque for gas-tight, vibration resistant, solid connections.

The screw clamp design uses a tin-plated, solid copper or solid brass current bar with grooved serration, a steel cage clamp and screws.

As the clamp is tightened, the wire is pressed firmly against the current bar, ensuring positive connections every time. The steel parts are zinc plated and passivated by a golden yellow chromate layer for maximum resistance against oxidation.

When applying tightening torques, use our straight blade screwdriver to fit the screw hole guides located in the terminal block housings.

The metal parts of Altech terminal blocks are housed in precision-molded, self-extinguishing polyamide 6.6 material for maximum dielectric strength, electrical insulation and temperature resistance.

Standard features on all housings include funnel-shaped wire entry openings and screwdriver guide.

5 Ways To Save Money Right Now

Wednesday, April 18, 2012 by Beckie Bordenaro
  1. Are you a long time brand follower? The market has changed and there are MANY low cost options out there that offer, even guarantee, the quality you rely on. Don't be afraid to try a lesser known brand that offers you big cost savings.
  2. Do you ship using your UPS or FedEx Collect #? Many companies mark up shipping or include 'handling' charges when you ship prepay and add. Another tip: do you insure every shipment? Review your actual claims and see if the insurance premiums are worth the payout.
  3. Are you using variable frequency drives or soft starts with your industrial electric motors? If not, you may be wasting energy and money. Many utilities also offer rebates for installing VFD's and soft starters or adding to existing equipment.
  4. Do you ask for better pricing? If you are buying in quantity or have a target price, ask for a discount. The worst that can happen is they say no, which means you are have nothing to lose!
  5. Have you taken a look at the new technology that is available? We all fall into ruts occasionally and do things how we do... because that's how we always have. There are products released continuously that combine a number of products into one - a great example is the IDEC SmartRelay (here is a link to the starter kit). Take up less space, spend less time on maintenance and replacements all while replacing relays, timers and counters with just ONE SmartRelay!

Marshall Wolf Automation can offer you many more than just five ways to save you money! Our excellent customer service, in-house technical department, large warehouse and authorized status with all of our product lines mean you are getting the best deal around!

Where Would You Use The Baumer HS35?

Wednesday, April 18, 2012 by Beckie Bordenaro

Baumer's HS35 is an incremental hollow shaft encoder that gives you heavy duty durability plus the accuracy of high-resolution optical encoders.

Baumer offers direct drop-in replacement (mechanical and electrical - same output IC) equivalent to Avtron HS35, BEI HS35 and Danaher HS35. We offer fully programmable (HS35P) versions or direct count (HS35F) versions.

Cranes and Hoists:

IP 67 and -40 °F are standard for the Baumer HS35 series of shaft encoders. Reinforced shaft inserts provide isolation against shaft currents. The robust surface coating and the thick-walled housings protect the encoder against corrosion and mechanical stress.

Printing:

The high-performance optical scanning with 60 arcsec or better accuracy and the high resolution of up to 8,192 ppr allows optimum precision in operation.

Vector Motor Feedback:

The new ShaftLock design, in combination with very rugged bearings, withstand higher shaft run-outs.

This reduces motor downtime and maintenance costs. Ultra-precise signals guarantee dynamic operation over the full temperature range.

Other applications that would benefit from the Baumer HS35 include material handling, elevators, medical, oil and gas.

Marshall Wolf Automation is your industrial automation distributor for the complete line of Baumer Electric inductive and capacitive proximity sensors, laser distance measurement sensors and much more.

Congratulations to Bonfiglioli USA!

Wednesday, April 18, 2012 by Beckie Bordenaro

I recently saw this announcement on the Bonfiglioli USA website:

Bonfiglioli USA Named One of Greater Cincinnati’s Fastest-Growing Companies
Company to be recognized at Business Courier’s Annual Luncheon June 7

(Hebron, KY; April 9, 2012) – Bonfiglioli USA, the US headquarters of Bonfiglioli Riduttori S.p.A., has been named a finalist in the Cincinnati Business Courier’s Fast 55.  The eighth annual celebration will take place on Thursday, June 7 at 11:30 a.m. at the Hyatt Regency, Cincinnati, OH, where the winners of the five revenue categories will be announced.

This marks the fourth occasion that Bonfiglioli USA has been named one of the 55 fastest-growing companies in the 17-county Greater Cincinnati area.  The Company was nominated in 2006 and 2007, and was the winner in 2008 in the category of companies with $50.1-$100 million in revenue.

To be eligible for the Fast 55, companies must be: independent, for profit and privately held; be headquartered in the 17-county, three state Greater Cincinnati region; have a three year operating history; have an average of at least $1 million in sales for the three most recent years, with no year less than $200,000.

“This year’s nomination to the Fast 55 is especially meaningful considering the recent economic downturn, in which many companies struggled financially,” said Greg Schulte, President of Bonfiglioli USA.  “Our business model and the diversity of industries we serve, along with entrance into some key markets like renewable energy, have helped our revenues to grow 135% over the past year, and nearly double since 2009,” he continued, “which has enabled our qualification for this year’s nomination. We are looking forward to celebrating this nomination and potential award with our Bonfiglioli family.”
