Carlo Gavazzi recently issued a few application notes on their new PH18CNR series of photoelectric sensors.

Customer Issue: When using a normally retroreflective sensor, sometimes it does not pick up the can.

Carlo Gavazzi Solution: Using the PH18 sensor polarized version, the light emitted from the sensor is polarized in one direction and the light received 90 degree on the emitted light.

In this way, reflections is eliminated from the can  and only the light coming from a reflector is detected.

Customer Issue: A flash beacon lamp is installed on the conveyor system to warn about faults that need attention from the operator. The existing sensor reacts on the light giving false outputs.

Carlo Gavazzi Solution: The Carlo Gavazzi PH18CN.. sensors are developed with a high immunity towards foreign light sources,  including flash beacon lamps. This avoids false detection.
