Palite's new intelligent signal tower with network monitoring function allows economical control of the functions of up to 24 network components for each industrial light tower.

The NHL features numerous control options: Used as a PING device monitor it detects whether all network components are connected with the network. To achieve this, it initiates PING interactions for up to 24 devices and alerts the administrator with a light/sound signal in case a PING response fails.The NHL tower also sends a light/sound signal for SNMP TRAP messages generated by routers, printers or switches in case of an error. In addition, the signal tower can also be used to monitor important background applications and can send an e-mail message with up to eight events. The title and text of the e-mail can be programmed in advance based on the event.

The NHL is controlled by RSH commands in combination with standard management software. To set up the signal tower, all you need is the IP address and a web browser. Integrated firmware is also easy to update on these industrial stack lights using the web browser.

The NHL is available with or without an AC adapter. Its simple, elegant design fits into any office environment. In “Off” state the LED modules are white. When switched on, they light up red, yellow and green and can display different flashing patterns depending on the respective event. A diffuse reflecting mirror, the patented special prism cut and high-power LEDs ensure excellent visibility.  Also, the NHL signal tower can emit four different buzzing sounds, from slow intermittent to uninterrupted.

Various mounting options are available for the NHL: The standard method is platform mounting on tables or cabinets; optionally, the unit is also available with wall or partition mounting.

Marshall Wolf Automation is proud to announce the latest in Carlo Gavazzi innovations, as Carlo Gavazzi proudly launches a new Wireless Safety System for industrial automatic doors. The WSM/WSS eliminates the need for coiled cables between the door and the door controller, thus eliminating the possibility of damaged wires rendering a door inoperable or unsafe. The system consists of a main module which interfaces directly with the safety input of the main door controller.

The main module in turn can monitor up to 4 sub-controllers. Each sub-controller is powered by 1-4 batteries, and can monitor 2 safety edges, or 1 safety edge and 1 door-in-door sensor. The system is completed with our new PB11 low power consumption photoelectric sensors for safety edges. Power for the PB11 is supplied by the sub-controller. The system will also work with many safety edge products already on the market.

Leuze sensors include the HRTR 25B light scanner which enables reliable detection of objects with glossy surfaces by means of its focused light spot. Exact edge detection and positioning are possible on glossy, perforated metallic surfaces as well as on rack bars and stands using this sensor.  In the same series, the Leuze HRTR 25B XL scanner is ideal for positioning tasks using its large light spot. The larger light spot also makes this sensor ideally suited for the detection of containers which may not be completely closed.

Baumer Electric Sensors are among the best available.  Now, the inductive outdoor sensors IFRR (proximity switches) and IWRR (distance -measuring sensors) by Baumer have passed the latest corrosion tests with flying colors. Both sensors meet the requirements of the highest corrosiveness category C5-M. Both sensors are therefore ideally suited to use in demanding ambient conditions at sea or on the coast, e.g. in wind power stations.

Digital inductive sensors are mainly used to detect the nacelle position and the rotor speed. Measuring sensors are applied for monitoring the brakes and the shaft deflection. To meet the requirements of the maximum corrosiveness category C5-M, the sensors were subjected to a 1440-hour or 60-day salt spray test in accordance with ISO 9227, followed by a 720-hour condensation-water resistance test in accordance with ISO 6270. The results show that these inductive sensors meet the highest corrosion resistance demands, and Baumer can guarantee a very long service life for its products.

Pepperl + Fuchs has expanded its ML4.2 Series of subminiature photoelectric sensors with new models offering faster response times, multibeam redundant detection, independent outputs, and zero deadband sensing. High-speed models offer 250 µs response time. Other models include dual-sensor redundant detection models, dual-sensor redundant detection and independent output models, precise sensing models, a retroreflective sensing model with no sensing deadband, and throughbeam sensors. All nonthroughbeam sensors feature integrated crosstalk immunity, 4-in-1 output, high immunity to ambient light, and diagnostic LEDs.

These sensors are perfect for applications that require more signal strength than is available with background suppression sensors, and sense at either very close or long sensing distances.

They can be used when rigid reflectors or even reflective tape must be detected up to the sensor face, as a standard retro-reflective mode sensor would typically not see reflective tape unless it were two to four inches from the sensor.

They are also well suited for detecting objects such as solar cell wafers and packaged tubes or cartons where precise and repeatable leading edge detection is a must.

Power-supply manufacturer Carlo Gavazzi recently released a series of switching devices the company deems "economically friendly," the RMD Hybrid Relays. The product provides mercury-free switching, designed for controlling heating elements inside of food ovens, warmers, fryers, rotisseries and other food equipment. It's capable of switching up to 20 cycles per minute, with a 4 million electrical cycle life expectancy.

The RMD Series combines solid-state technology and electromechanical relays to provide a hybrid relay. This means that there is virtually no contact arcing, which  results in prolonged relay life and much less emission inside of the panel. Another benefit of hybrid technology is a full amperage rating at elevated operational temperatures. While most conventional switching devices are rated at 25-40 degrees Celsius, the RMD Hybrid Relays are fully rated up to 60 degrees Celsius. The RMD3H switches heaters on three legs while the RMD2H is a lower-cost alternative, as it switches two poles and the third pole is directly connected between L2 and T2. Additional technical features include:

• Two- (for single and three phase circuits) and three-pole arrangements
• Rated for 4 million electrical cycles
• Rated for up to 20 cycles per minute
• Two output voltage ratings: 240VAC (VL-L) and 277VAC (VL-N – 480VAC with Neutral)
