New FAST tool from Lenze/AC Tech

Leading global manufacturer of electrical and mechanical drives, motion control and automation technology, AC Tech/ Lenze has simplified efficient machine programming with the recent launch of its FAST application template and ready-made standard software modules. Machine designers and programmers can use the FAST software tool to quickly and reliably handle a majority of the software engineering requirements for standardized machine modules.

The FAST tool provides a complete range of standard software modules for positioning, registration, cam profiling, multi-conveyor coordination and other synchronized motion control tasks, including modules for feeding, unwinding, sealing, cross-sealing and discharging applications. The pre-configured software modules are designed to significantly expedite machine programming. Lenze tests and continuously improves on modules based on extensive customer experience.

The FAST application template comes equipped with all of the necessary structures for standardizing software, so users can more quickly develop machine modules. This allows a significant reduction in engineering and software development time and expense, which more companies are demanding. The template includes important structures for key functions, including switching over machine states, error handling and communication interfaces.

Machine motion and control functions are contained in individual, autonomous modules which can be selected, exchanged and tested completely independently. Software modules created using the application template can be assembled with minimal effort to create complete and reusable systems. Repeat use of tested modules on new machine iterations further reduces errors and drives down cost.

For more information about the new FAST application template and software modules, in addition to assistance with other AC Tech/Lenze products, please visit www.wolfautomation.com or email us at sales@wolfautomation.com   Marshall Wolf Automation is a stocking distributor of AC Tech variable frequency dirves and we have technical assistance on staff.  Contact us at 800-325-9653 (WOLF) today!  Read more news about AC Tech here:  Lenze AC Tech & Marshall Wolf Automation-A Great Team!

Leuze Enhances Functionality for Safety Light Beam Devices

Designed for efficiency, the product enhancements for the Leuze Electronics MLD Series  now has easy integrated laser alignment and flexible mounting.

OSSD Output indication gives a new multi-colored status indicator ring that is a practical aid for daily operation, displaying the OSSD state as well as the muting state that can be seen over long distances which is a clear advantage for smooth operation.   The combination of both these features, with the OSSD message output, direct and simple diagnosis is made possible both visually as well as via the downstream PLC.

Range reduction means the the user can switch the operating range and reduce it from 50m range to 20m.  This function is important if there is a potential of optical cross talk between adjacent protective fields, i.e. the transmitter of one system influences the receiver of an adjacent system.

Leuze USA has developed a reputation for providing high-technology value added products and outstanding customer support as a solution provider for a wide range of industries. Main applications are industrial automation, material handling, packaging, food and beverage, pharmaceutical and printing industries.

To learn more about how Leuze Sensors can your meet your sensor and automation needs, check out our website at www.wolfautomation.com, or call 800-325-9653 (WOLF).

Magnetic Sensor from Baumer

What is a magnetic sensor and how does it work?  I'll turn to my friends at Baumer for the answer on this one!

Magnetic sensors are non-contact electronic sensors. They detect magnetic fields or their alteration by ferromagnetic objects.  Their funcitonal principal is that a magnetic sensor identifies the position of object on the basis of a magnetic field. This is built up either by an external permanent magnet or by a magnet integrated in the sensor. Movements, e.g. of gear wheels, or approximation of objects result in alterations of the magnetic field. These changes are detected by the sensor and evaluated by the integrated electronics. Depending on the sensor type the output signal is digital or analog.

Generally, one differentiates

  • Magnetic proximity switches
  • Magnetic angle sensors
  • Hall sensors
  • Magnetic cylinder sensors

The IP 68 Baumer MTRM 16  is an example of a magnetic hall sensor.  The non-contact hall measuring principle minimizes the abrasive wear and therefore the maintenance effort. As a result, a long-term trouble-free use of the hall sensor is guaranteed, even under the harsh conditions prevailing in rail applications.  Contact Marshall Wolf Automation, your authorized industrial automation distributor for all of your Baumer sensing needs!  800-325-9653 (WOLF)

Inductive sensors for food and beverage packaging applications!

Hygienic position feedback at moulding, filling and sealing machines; Inductive sensor series IFBR with mounting concept in hygienic design!

  • Inductive sensors with mounting concept in hygienic design – EHEDG- and FDA-compliant
  • Extended product service life even at regular cleaning cycles and frequent temperature changes thanks to proTect+
  • No restriction to cleaning agents and disinfectants – Ecolabapproved
  • Extremely waterproof (IP 68/IP 69K) and resistant against high-pressure cleaning
  • Advanced potential applications due to extended switching distance and temperature range from -40°C to +100°C (short-term)

Perfect for food and beverage packaging applications, Baumer Electric Sensors work!  The new sensors with their plane, groove-free V4A stainless steel housings as well as the mounting accessories are compliant with hygienic standards, Ecolab-approved, and the materials are FDA-compliant. Along with the range of EHEDG-certified reflectors and Ecolab-approved cables with protection class IP 69K, Baumer offers a complete solution for position detection in the food zone.

For applications in the splash zone Baumer offers adequate sensors with washdown design. These sensors are as resistant against detergents and high-pressure splash water as those in hygienic design, but they are mounted conventionally.

With the specifically developed impermeability concept proTect+ Baumer guarantees a higher sensor performance and life-time. For this purpose the sensors are exposed to continuously changing temperature cycles in addition to the IP 68 and IP 69K impermeability tests.

Inductive sensors have a particularly large operating temperature range from -40 to +80 °C. This offers versatile fields of application from the processing of frozen products to areas with CIP processes.
