How do you keep your body temperature on an even keel?

Monday, March 22, 2010 by Amy Becker

I started to think about personal body temperature as I was talking to a hot (as in intense) co-worker this morning. We were laughing and thinking about how to “cool him off”.  Then, as I started to write, I thought “I need this more than he does”. Now that I am almost 50, (aaugh, how did that happen?) I could really use an automated body temperature control. Ask anyone around me, sweater on, sweater off, sweater on, sweater off all day long.

As far as I know a personal mechanical temperature has not been invented.   However, at Marshall Wolf Automation, we offer many temperature control products. Autonics, Panasonic and Simpson are just a few of the brands we carry. One particular controller we carry is the Series TC3YF from Autonics. This is a designated Cooling/Defrost Digital Temperature Controller. (Note, if I think about a nice cold refrigerator will my body temperature go down?)  Refrigeration equipment manufacturers will find these ideal for their needs. The controller maximizes the cooling efficiency of the freezer by removing ice and frost with an auto/manual defrost function. The display range is between -40-212°F with a NTC thermistor input or -148-212°F with a RTD input.

If you are in the market for a temperature controller, visit our website at www.wolfautomation.com to see all of the varieties we offer. We will also be happy to answer any of your questions. You can call us at 800-325-WOLF or email us at sales@wolfautomation.com

It’s only Thursday, but my mind seems to be acting like it’s Friday!

Monday, March 22, 2010 by Amy Becker

My mind seems to think it is Friday. I have been trying really hard to work today, but it seems every time I touch something, I do something wrong. How do I fix my internal clock? Actually, what I would like to do is turn back the clock and start over from about 11:00 am. Anyone out there know how to do that?

Well, I don’t know how to do that, but I do know how to help you keep your business on it’s schedule. We sell the Autonics LE7M-2 timer series. This timer can maintain programs for recurring weekly or annual events. It allows for Up to 12 holiday/non-operation day settings. It will automatically adjust for Daylight Savings Time. (Hey, wait a minute… Could that be why I am so confused today? I think I will use it as my excuse.) Marshall Wolf Automation is an Industrial Automation distributor and we sell several types and brands of timers. Visit us at www.wolfautomation.com to see out complete list of timers and how they may benefit your particular situation.

As well as timer we sell, Safety Relays, Industrial Stack Lights, Customer Control Panels and countless other items to fill all of your industrial needs. If you have any questions on any of our products you can contact us at sales@wolfautomation.com or 800-325-WOLF. We will be happy to assist you in any way we can.

It is still Thursday isn’t it?

Do you ever have one of those days where you want to block out the “noise” of your co-workers?

Friday, March 19, 2010 by Amy Becker

I was thinking today, what could I do when my co-workers are rambling on about me being a “drama-queen”? Can you imagine, me, (emphasis “ME”) being a “drama queen”? Wouldn’t it be great if I had a button at my desk that would blast some noise and everyone around me would stop talking?  Well, I don’t think my supervisor would appreciate that, but a woman can dream. We even have exactly what I would need to create up to 90dB of noise at 1m.

Patlite offers the BD audible alarm series.  This is a piezo electric buzzer that can provide beeps, bells, siren and various songs. Personally I would choose “I’ve Been Working on the Railroad”. I think this would be a great motivator. You could also choose Christmas songs, classical music and a wide variety of others. This great alarm is perfect to use in a noisy factory.   Changing the songs and/or alarms is easy even after installation due to the rotary switches stored behind the front panel.

Patlite offers various Industrial Light Towers, piezo pulse buzzers and combination light and audible alarms. Marshal Wolf Automation is a large Industrial Supply distributor. We offer Chint, Autonics, Carlo Gavazzi and Werma as well as Patlite alarms. Visit our website at www.wolfautomation.com to see the various options available to meet your special needs.

How much green beer will be available today?

Wednesday, March 17, 2010 by Amy Becker

Much beer, green and otherwise, will be sold today. The last thing any beer producer wants to do is run out of beer. Keeping a close watch on levels in tanks is key. Sensors are often used to detect the levels of liquids in a holding container.  In the case of beer, foam may alter the readings. Ultrasonic sensor beams allow you to measure only the liquid; the foam will not deflect the beam. Today, of all days, having ample beer available for your customers is crucial.

Marshall Wolf Automation, your industrial supply distributor,  can provide you with Baumer electric sensors, Carlo Gavazzi sensors, and various other items to keep the beer flowing. Visit our web site, www.wolfautomation.com, to see all of our products.

Do your customers get dizzy driving around and around looking for an open parking space?

Wednesday, March 17, 2010 by Amy Becker

If you are the owner/operator of a large, multi-level parking garage, you have probably heard complaints from customers in a hurry to get to an appointment or show. Spending unnecessary time looking for a parking spot can create added anxiety. Looking for that “one” open spot can be very frustrating and time consuming.

Carlo Gavazzi has a number of innovative products to solve these problems. The Dupline Carpark System is perfect for any size and type of indoor parking lot. Not only can this system lead drivers to the closest available spot, it can also keep you updated on exactly how many spots are open. By leading the driver to the closest available spot, driving times will be reduced, thus reducing exhaust gases and the need for added ventilation.

Visit our website at www.wolfautomation.com and check out all of our Carlo Gavazzi sensors. We are an Industrial Supply distributor and have products for your car washing systems, industrial warning lights and many other applications.

Do you have spiders in your facility?

Monday, March 15, 2010 by Amy Becker

Is your facility in need of spiders? Did you know we offer spiders in seven colors and one dual-color? If you’re wondering why an Industrial Automation Distributor is selling spiders, read on.

Idec is now offering the LH1D series. These LED “spider” lights have many uses in the manufacturing world.  They are idea for robotic arms, product picking, door monitoring, or other situations with limited space. These lights are less than 30mm high for a dome, and the flush lights are approximately 10mm! Each can be installed with two M3 screws, no need for drilling 22mm holes.

These “spiders” are available in red, green, amber, cool white, warm white, blue, yellow and the dual red/green LED. Any place a LED pilot light may be needed, a spider light can be used. And, like all of your friendly spiders, these are IP67 rated for protection against exposure to water or oils.

Call us when you are looking to fill your facility with spiders. We are an Idec distributor and can supply you with all of your industrial warning light needs.   Check out our spiders at www.wolfautomation.com or call and talk to one of our spider experts at 1-800-325-WOLF.

SQUISH! This is not what you want to hear as your elevator doors close.

Friday, March 12, 2010 by Amy Becker

If you are in charge of maintaining your elevator, the last thing you want is for someone or something to get caught in the doors. Carlo Gavazzi sensors, the BFL light curtain series, were specifically designed to detect people or objects in elevator doorways. These sensors will also work with industrial elevators where forklifts and other machinery may be present.

The light curtain consists of a transmitting unit and a receiving unit. If an object breaks only one beam of light (104 & 194 beams available) the doors will automatically reopen. By eliminating the “squishing” of people and/or objects, maintenance (and medical) services will decrease dramatically.

The sales department at Marshall Wolf Automation, sales@wolfautomation.com, will be happy to provide you with the necessary components. You may also call 1-800-325-WOLF to talk with an engineer. We provide a full line of Carlo Gavazzi products to meet your sensor and industrial automation needs.

How can electronic monitoring relays help you?

Monday, December 7, 2009 by Amy Becker

Electrical safety is one area where monitoring relays come into play. Voltage, current and temperature are just a few variables these relays will monitor. By keeping a close watch on these and other factors, hazardous situations will be reduced for both man and machine, thus increasing the safety of your employees and the life of your equipment.

At Marshall Wolf Automation we can provide monitoring relays to fit your application. Contact us at sales@wolfautomation to talk to one of our knowledgeable salespeople.

Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, what do these all have in common? Why variable frequency drives (VFD’s) of course!

Monday, December 7, 2009 by Amy Becker

The processing of wine includes pumps and fans. Adding a VFD to either of these may decrease the winery’s energy usage. The VFD allows the pumps and/or fans to work only at the rate required to complete the job. By reducing the water flow rate on a pump by 20-30%, the energy consumption will reduce 50-80%. Those cost savings can then be used to create more wine. A win-win situation for the winery and their customers!

Marshall Wolf Automation can provide energy management solutions for wineries as well as other food and drink production lines.

We are your #1 source for variable frequency drives and high performance AC drives.  We carry AC Tech Lenze, Fuji Electric, Teco Westinghouse, Hitachi and Delta lines.

Be sure to think of Marshall Wolf Automation with your next sip of Chardonnay.
